NOTE: This release may contain forward-looking statements within the safe harbor provisions of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995.

A propos d’Air Products :

Over Air Products

The transactions are subject to regulatory approval and employee consultation requirements.

The total purchase price for Air Products’ Continental Europe Homecare business will be €590 MM, subject to terms agreed upon completion.

The agreements cover the sale of Air Products’ patient-based oxygen-therapy, sleep-therapy and infusion-therapy services in Continental Europe. This business serves a total patient base around 260,000 in all five countries and had revenue of approximately €210 MM last year.

Chairman, President and CEO John McGlade said, “Over many years, our Continental European Homecare team has run a successful business, helping us to build several leadership positions. With the more recent trends towards concentrators and non-oxygen therapies, we feel it is no longer a natural fit with our core gases business. Our growth strategy lies in the energy, environmental and emerging markets in which we continue to see significant opportunities.”

The company is assessing several options in regards to its remaining Homecare interests in the UK, Ireland, Argentina and Brazil. Air Products will continue to operate these businesses as part of its portfolio, competing to win new business and providing quality patient care. More broadly, Healthcare continues to offer profitable opportunities through the supply of merchant gases and related services to hospitals and other care providers.

Air Products serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services. Founded in 1940, Air Products has built leading positions in key growth markets such as semiconductor materials, refinery hydrogen, home healthcare services, natural gas liquefaction, and advanced coatings and adhesives. The company is recognized for its innovative culture, operational excellence and commitment to safety and the environment. In fiscal 2011, Air Products had revenues of $10.1 billion, operations in over 40 countries, and 18,900 employees around the globe. Specific adjustments are being communicated directly to customers.

The price increase is the result of several factors. The global helium market continues to experience severe shortages in the supply needed to meet the world’s growing demand. The industry-wide shortage has made it increasingly difficult to maintain Air Products’ global system for meeting customer requirements, and unfortunately this situation is expected to continue well into the future. Air Products has incurred increased costs to operate in this manner, as its worldwide helium team is managing this difficult situation on a daily basis in order to maintain uninterruptible supply to customers.

NOTE: This release may contain forward-looking statements within the safe harbor provisions of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995.

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced it has agreed to acquire a 25 percent stake in the gases and equipment businesses of Abdullah Hashim Industrial Gases & Equipment Co. Ltd. (AHG), a company of the privately-owned Abdullah Hashim Group, based in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and customary local closing conditions. Financial terms are not being disclosed.

AHG is the largest private industrial gases company in Saudi Arabia. It is comprised of three businesses, including industrial gases, equipment, and consumables and refrigerants. AHG has three main production locations in Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh, plus distribution centers at key locations across The Kingdom. AHG also has a purchase agreement with National Industrial Gases Company (NIGC) at Jubail and Yanbu for liquid products.

“AHG is a long-established, respected and financially strong business, run by an experienced leadership team,” said Howard Castle-Smith, Air Products’ vice president and general manager, Tonnage Gases, Europe and Middle East. “Merchant gases growth in The Kingdom is high, and margins are strong, making it an attractive investment. It’s also a significant new platform from which to pursue tonnage gases opportunities in The Middle East.”

Air Products and AHG have a long-standing relationship and currently operate two joint ventures. One is an on-site facility supplying oxygen and nitrogen for Shadeed Iron & Steel’s production plant in the Sohar Industrial Port of Oman. The other plant supplies nitrogen and hydrogen to Emirates Float Glass in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

“We see Air Products as the ideal partner to expand our business across The Middle East,” said Khalid Hashim, AHG’s managing director. “Our relative strengths – AHG in the supply of merchant gases and Air Products in large scale tonnage plants – make us stronger together. Of course, Air Products is a leader in merchant gases in many other parts of the world, and I expect us to benefit from their capability in new technologies and product innovation that we will offer to our customers and prospects.”

Abdullah Hashim Group was founded in 1955 and is owned and operated by the Hashim family. The industrial gases business is a combination of liquid/bulk, pipeline products and a range of packaged gases products. AHG has a particularly strong presence in refining, primary metals markets, medical, food and aviation.

Air Products built the first ever air separation unit (ASU) in the Middle East in the 1950s and has 40 years of operating experience in the region. The company has been working with the petrochemical and refinery industries for decades, building, owning and operating ASUs and hydrogen production plants.

Air Products designed and built two of the world’s largest ASUs for Qatar Oryx GTL at its site in Ras Laffan. Air Products also owns an operating facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in the United Arab Emirates.

About Air Products
Air Products (NYSE:APD) serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services. The helium market has been tight across the globe with product allocations implemented by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and with many other global helium sources producing below capacity. Additionally, new helium sources located primarily outside of the U.S. are extremely expensive, wholesale prices for crude and processed liquid helium have increased, and costs have escalated for power and diesel.

Air Products’ worldwide helium team is managing this difficult situation on a daily basis so that it can continue to bring uninterruptible supply to customers. It is expected that demand will exceed supply for the next two to three years, thus creating ongoing shortages in the market.

NOTE: This release may contain forward-looking statements within the safe harbor provisions of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995.
Air Products (NYSE: APD), the world’s largest producer and supplier of liquid and gaseous helium, announced today it won the “Innovation for Growth 2010” award in Royal Philips Electronics Supplier Awards program. Air Products received the award for its work together with Philips to significantly reduce the amount of helium used at Philips’ Latham, New York manufacturing facility. The award was presented by Philips at a recent event held in Andover, Massachusetts.

“Customer service is essential in today’s globally competitive market and we are very proud to have our dedicated efforts in this essential area recognized by Philips,” said John Van Sloun, general manager, Worldwide Helium at Air Products. “We worked closely with Philips in restructuring a segment of its operations to reduce their overall usage of helium. The result benefits Philips from an operations and cost standpoint, and we retain a satisfied customer.” Van Sloun added that the reduced sales of helium to Philips will be used to grow Air Products' helium business beyond magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and to supply the increasing demand for the product in several other product markets.

At Latham, Air Products and Philips are making further investments into the MRI manufacturing process by constructing new equipment that will enhance the helium recovery and recycle processes within the factory. The project is scheduled to be completed during the summer of 2012, and once operational the new equipment will significantly reduce the amount of helium purchased by Philips. Air Products had previously worked with Philips at its facility in Best, Holland to install a similar system.

In selecting the winner, Philips noted that its judges were convinced that Air Products deserved the Innovation Award. Philips added that in a tough market situation with strong upward helium price pressure, Air Products worked together with Philips to mitigate this price pressure by restructuring the Latham Factory operations and investing in new equipment, resulting in the significant reduction in helium consumption.

Philips uses liquid helium at Latham to cool down the magnets they manufacture for the MRI industry and to test them prior to final placement at medical imaging facilities. A substantial amount of helium is used in the manufacturing and testing of these MRI magnets, which must be cooled to -452 degrees Fahrenheit.

Air Products assists the global MRI industry with vital service by keeping the superconducting magnets at cryogenic temperatures to provide the highest quality medical imaging. An MRI system with a superconducting magnet consists of many wound coils of wire through which a current of electricity is passed to create a magnetic field. This requires a significant amount of energy and is achieved through superconductivity, or reducing the resistance in the wires to almost zero by continually bathing the wire coils in liquid helium.

Helium is used in many unique and valued applications beyond MRI including: lifting for high altitude scientific research balloons, blimps and party balloons; fiber optics and semi-conductor manufacturing; metallurgy; breathing atmospheres for deep diving or unique blood gas medical mixtures; analytical chemistry; pressurizing and purging pipes, vessels, and other critical equipment; leak detection; and other advanced applications.

Air Products (NYSE:APD) serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services. In fiscal 2010, Air Products had revenues of $9 billion, operations in over 40 countries, and 18,300 employees around the globe. Marie Curie Cancer Care provided care to more than 31,000 terminally ill patients at home or in its nine hospices last year, and Air Products' Healthcare division provides home oxygen to over 325,000 patients throughout Europe.

On 6 April 2010, the Government's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) was handed extended powers to enhance the enforcement of the UK Data Protection Act. For many organisations these moves demonstrate the increasing importance in all sectors around handling personal and sensitive data.

The agreement between the two organisations saw Air Products share with Marie Curie its experience of developing and integrating a data protection programme which included lessons learned from both technical and change management perspectives. Marie Curie will use the expertise to inform the design of a new employee training and awareness programme to be launched this spring.

Shash Patel, Director of Information Risk Management and Privacy at Air Products explained: "It is more and more necessary to proactively manage the way in which data is handled; from risk assessing and monitoring "data assets', to employee change management programmes which foster a strong culture of individual responsibility. All of this requires focused resources and we recognise that lessons from Air Products' data protection journey are of real value to others with similar obstacles. Sharing this experience with Marie Curie Cancer Care means that we are not only helping a leading UK charity, but we are continuing to define standards in the area of data protection as a whole."

According to the Charities Aid Foundation's World Giving Index 2010, 29% of the UK's charitable giving occurs through volunteering activity. Shash added: "Philanthropy is an important corporate responsibility, however in some cases, sharing relevant skills and knowledge can be of greater long-term value. With Marie Curie Cancer Care we have seen firsthand that this kind of partnership works and as part of the data protection movement, together we're adopting a new kind of best practice that really makes a difference."

Trevor Lake, Company Secretary at Marie Curie Cancer Care commented: "Spending time with the Air Products Data Protection team has helped us to understand the challenges in creating a robust and effective data handling programme for the long-term and how to overcome these. Their contribution of expertise and tried-and-tested approaches has saved us both time and money. Privacy and confidentiality are priorities for Marie Curie Cancer Care and we'd like to thank Air Products for helping us continue to set the highest standards so that our patients, employees, volunteers and supporters know that their data is in safe hands."

About Air Products
Air Products (NYSE:APD) serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services. Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, it provided care to more than 31,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in its nine hospices last year and is the largest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS.

Funding
Around 70 per cent of the charity's income comes from the generous support of thousands of individuals, membership organisations and businesses, with the balance of our funds coming from the NHS.

Marie Curie Nurses
The charity is best known for its network of Marie Curie Nurses working in the community to provide end of life care, totally free for patients in their own homes.

Research
The charity provides core funding for two centres for palliative care research, the Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Unit at University College London and the Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool. It also supports palliative and end of life care research through its project grant funding streams, the Marie Curie Cancer Care Research Programme (administered by Cancer Research UK) and the Dimbleby Marie Curie Cancer Care Research Fund.

Supporting the choice to die at home
Research shows around 65 per cent of people would like to die at home if they had a terminal illness, with a sizeable minority opting for hospice care. However, more than 50 per cent of cancer deaths still occur in hospital, the place people say they would least like to be. Since 2004 Marie Curie Cancer Care has been campaigning for more patients to be able to make the choice to be cared for and die at home.

Air Products Lands Contract with Genesis for KeepCOLD® Cryogenic Services

Air Products (NYSE: APD) announced today the signing of a long-term contract with Genesis Medical Imaging, Inc., one of the United States’ largest independent MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) service providers based in Huntley, Illinois. Under the agreement, Air Products will supply its KeepCOLD® Cryogenic Services product offering for approximately 150 magnets currently installed by Genesis for MRI scans at medical service providers across the country.

“The contract with Genesis is the largest we have signed in the independent sector to date. We believe this market will present further opportunities and we will continue to grow that end of the business with our established offerings,” said Shawn Smith, product manager - North America Helium at Air Products. “In this growing market we are able to use the wealth of experience we have gained working closely with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), be able to continue to provide that experience to our OEM customers, and now transition that knowledge to our work with Genesis and other independents as well.”

“Air Products’ enviable quality and OEM experience make a superb fit with Genesis’ unique position to provide customers the excellence and security of an OEM relationship with the pricing and responsiveness of independent service,” said Robert Dakessian, Genesis president and CEO. “Air Products’ reliability can mean more uptime, another step in Genesis’ promise of continuous improvement in quality and value from a service partner you can trust.”

Smith said he believed Air Products’ 20 years of MRI servicing experience, as well as its product offerings’ flexibility to meet the specific needs of the customer, were essential to gaining the Genesis contract. “We have been and are the leading third-party service provider in this industry,” Smith said. “This contract enables Air Products to continue to expand our customer base in this market and to increase our present work with the independent MRI segment of the medical services industry.”

Air Products, the largest international supplier of helium, assists the MRI industry with vital service by keeping the superconducting magnets at cryogenic temperatures to provide the highest quality medical imaging. An MRI system with a superconducting magnet consists of many wound coils of wire through which a current of electricity is passed to create a magnetic field. This requires a significant amount of energy and is achieved through superconductivity, or reducing the resistance in the wires to almost zero by continually bathing the wire coils in liquid helium at approximately -452 degrees Fahrenheit.

There are more than 12,000 MRI magnets using Air Products' helium and cryogenic gases to keep them cold and superconducting for the medical services industry. This current total includes more than half of the existing magnets in U.S. and internationally. At more than 7,500 KeepCOLD sites Air Products performs 13,000 helium fills annually, which has led to long-standing relationships with the leading MRI original equipment manufacturers. The new facilities, planned to be on-stream in the fourth quarter of 2012, will provide additional capacity to meet customer demand for industrial gases and merchant liquid products in the region.

“Air Products has supplied customers in Middletown and the surrounding region with on-site and merchant gases since the 1960s. This new investment shows commitment to our customers in the Midwest market, it will expand our capability to serve the area, and it provides significant modernization of our operations there,” said Wilbur Mok, vice president–Tonnage Gases North America for Air Products. Mok noted that the new facilities will replace some smaller existing operations at this location to meet the increased demand for both on-site and merchant industrial gas products.

The new ASU will have production capacity of over 700 tons per day of combined pipeline and merchant oxygen output, and total argon capacity for the site will increase. Air Products will also generate hydrogen at Middletown to meet customer requirements with its PRISM® Hydrogen Generator steam methane reformer (SMR) producing over one million cubic feet per day of hydrogen. Air Products’ on-site hydrogen product offerings were enhanced by the 2008 acquisition of this novel and patented SMR technology with flexibility to meet the varied hydrogen capacity requirements of a customer.

Air Products (NYSE:APD) serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services.

liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, liquid argon, liquid and bulk hydrogen by 4% to 8%; and

Oktober 2008 an.

The company plans to report the U.S. Healthcare business as a discontinued operation beginning in the fiscal fourth quarter and will continue to operate and serve patients until the business is transitioned to a new owner.

In 2007, the company implemented a number of significant actions to improve the performance of its U.S. Healthcare business, including changes in management, a product and service offering simplification program, and other measures to drive earnings growth and improve profitability. During 2008, the business continued to underperform. As a result, in April 2008, Air Products disclosed that it was evaluating its strategic options for the business. Based on a review of the market and competitive conditions, the company determined that the U.S. Healthcare business no longer fits its business portfolio. At its July meeting, the company’s Board of Directors authorized management to pursue the sale of the business, and the company is in discussions with potential buyers.

Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer John E. McGlade, said, “Our U.S. Healthcare employees have worked very hard to execute our plan to increase volumes and reduce costs. Unfortunately, despite progress in a number of areas, the U.S. business is still not meeting expectations. At this time, we believe the decision to sell this business is in the best interest of our shareholders. This in no way affects our healthcare operations outside of the U.S, which continue to perform well and remain a core component of our strategy moving forward.”

Air Products is also announcing that it has reached preliminary agreement to sell its U.S. Healthcare businesses in the metropolitan New York area and in New Jersey, including its A&J Care locations in Glendale and Peekskill, New York and its COPD Services locations in Runnemede, Cape May Courthouse and Cedar Grove, New Jersey. This sale is expected to be completed by the end of the fiscal year.

Air Products has been in the U.S. healthcare market since October 2002 when it acquired American Homecare Supply. The company subsequently made additional acquisitions, growing its U.S. sales to $271 million in fiscal 2007 by providing respiratory therapies, home medical equipment and infusion services to patients in their homes. The U.S. Healthcare business operates in over 80 locations, has approximately 1,700 employees, and serves 120,000 patients, mainly throughout the eastern half of the U.S.

Air Products will continue to serve its hospital and magnetic resonance imaging customers in the U.S. through its Merchant Gases segment. These institutional healthcare businesses were never included in the Healthcare segment.

Air Products will release its fiscal 2008 third quarter financial results on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, and will host teleconference at 10:00 a.m. EDT. The teleconference will be open to the public and the media in listen-only mode by telephone and Internet broadcast.

Live teleconference: (719) 325-4783
Passcode: 1115514
Internet broadcast/slides:
www.airproducts.com/Invest/financialnews/Earnings_Releases/Teleconference.htm

Air Products (NYSE:APD) serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services.

Weitere Informationen finden Sie hier:

The plant, designed to produce 200 million standard cubic feet per year at start-up, with expectations for future capacity expansion, would process crude helium produced by a natural gas processing facility that would be owned by Cimarex Energy Co. (NYSE: XEC) and their partner, Riley Ridge LLC.

The Cimarex facility would process natural gas from the Riley Ridge Field in Wyoming, the second largest helium-rich natural gas field in the United States. Riley Ridge is believed to contain sufficient helium reserves to support production for decades. Production at the new Wyoming plant is anticipated to commence in 2009.

Air Products, the global leader in helium production, has pioneered many of the helium extraction, production, distribution and storage technologies used in the industry today. Air Products maintains the world’s largest helium production and distribution system and operates numerous facilities around the world.

“We are enthusiastic about developing the helium reserves at Riley Ridge. Bringing on this new source, with very long-lived helium reserves, will enable us to further diversify our helium supply and enhance our ability to reliably serve our worldwide customers,” said John Van Sloun, general manager, Helium and Rare Gases for Air Products. “We continue to see tightness in the supply of helium in the global market. The initial helium volumes expected from Riley Ridge in 2009 are relatively small, but this important new facility can produce additional product to help meet growing global demand.”

Matheson Tri-Gas Global Helium was formed in September 2006 when its parent company, TNSC, acquired the helium assets that were divested in connection with Linde AG’s acquisition of The BOC Group, plc. TNSC is the leading helium supplier in Japan, and is one of only six industrial gas companies in the world with direct access to helium sources.

“Taiyo Nippon Sanso purchased a ‘sold out’ helium business from Linde with limited ability to grow. Helium from the Riley Ridge Project will improve our ability to supply existing customers and provide the opportunity to grow the business beginning in 2009. Moreover, Matheson Tri-Gas’ participation in the Riley Ridge Project gives us additional credibility as a competitor in the global helium business,” said Phil Kornbluth, executive vice president, Global Helium for Matheson Tri-Gas.

Upon completion, the Wyoming helium production plant will be the 10th liquid helium plant operating in the United States, and the first new U.S. facility since 2000. It is expected to employ approximately 8-10 people after start-up.

Helium is used in many unique and valued applications including: magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); lifting for high altitude scientific research balloons, blimps and party balloons; fiber optics and semiconductor manufacturing; metallurgy; breathing atmospheres for deep diving or unique blood gas medical mixtures; analytical chemistry; pressurizing and purging pipes, vessels, and other critical equipment; leak detection; and other advanced applications.

The installation of Microbulk Solutions at a customer manufacturing facility located in Georgia marked the achievement of the global product offering first introduced in the United States in 2005, and offered in Europe prior to 1990. Microbulk Solutions is a novel gas supply and services option that provides the most technically-advanced and cost-effective alternative to traditional cylinder gas packaging in the marketplace.

“Microbulk delivery service and on-site storage and blending systems are very popular and have reached the 10,000th installation because the offering brings the advantages of bulk supply to operations with less than traditional bulk delivery volumes. At the 10,000th installation, Microbulk was the answer for our customer’s argon needs for vacuum furnaces. Whether it is argon or nitrogen for heat-treating furnace atmospheres, nitrogen or oxygen for laser-assist gases, or argon and argon blends for weld shielding, Microbulk supply can mean efficient, economical and reliable supply for small-volume users,” said John Tapley, Microbulk business development manager at Air Products.

Air Products’ Microbulk Solutions has had an impact for several markets including metals processing, biotechnology, foods, electronics and healthcare industries, and for applications with relatively small volume gas requirements. The service appeals to small-volume customers by virtually eliminating cylinder handling and reducing the number of product deliveries.

Microbulk tank trucks provide fast fills into storage tanks that are designed to offer customers a range of flexible supply options. They feature automatic fill shut-off devices; computer telemetry that remotely monitors tank levels, or programmable digital liquid level gauges to help customers monitor their inventory; and tanks with enhanced thermal qualities to limit product loss during periods of little or no use. Microbulk Solutions provide a much simplified supply chain option over the former gas supply practice of many industries’ processing operations that historically relied on high-pressure cylinders and dewars―a labor-intensive approach often resulting in wasted residual gas and the potential for interrupted supply, cross-contamination and safety issues.

Air Products (NYSE:APD) serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services. It is the first application of LNG cold energy at an ASU plant in China.

Air Products will also build and operate the associated storage and distribution operations at the ASU plant to supply the liquid products to the local market in Fujian Province, a fast growing marketplace for industrial gases.

"This is the first use of cold energy to make industrial gas products in China. We find Air Products is the best partner for this effort because it is a leader in the LNG industry and has a proven track record in ASU plant design and in reliable and safe operation," said Mr. Meng Liming, general manager of CNOOC Oil Base Group Ltd. "Air Products also has the capabilities and expertise to market the products from this venture," added Mr. Meng.

Fujian Province plays a significant role in the dynamic pan-Pearl River Delta economic region. In 2006, it ranked ninth in the country for its industrial output. The electronics and petrochemical industries have become emerging pillars of Fujian's economy, and contributed nearly half of the total production value of Fujian's industry.

"We are deeply honored to partner with CNOOC and to be able to participate in this environmentally-beneficial project. The use of cold energy will significantly reduce power consumption in the industrial gas production process which helps protect the environment. We look forward to the successful partnership this venture will bring," said Bob Dixon, vice president and general manager of Global Merchant Gases at Air Products. "Our partnership with CNOOC and investment in Fujian Province will strengthen our supply position in this fast-growing industrial market in China."

The ASU plant in Putian, Fujian Province is expected to come on-stream in 2009.

Air Products (NYSE:APD) serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services. Kongress der „Deutschen Gesellschaft für Pneumologie und Beatmungsmedizin“ (DGP) (14. – 17.

In Deutschland leiden rund fünf Millionen Menschen an COPD; jährlich sterben hier etwa 25.000 Menschen.

Hintergrundinformationen Air Products Medical
The 25,000 square foot building expansion project, expected to be on-stream in the summer of 2007, will provide the additional capacity to meet membrane product demand from several major market applications. Air Products currently produces approximately 20,000 membrane modules per year at the location.

The St. Louis facility produces advanced proprietary hollow fiber membranes which separate mixtures of gases by permeating molecules through membrane fibers at varied rates. For example, the PRISM membranes can separate compressed air -- oxygen from nitrogen -- to produce an inert nitrogen gas with 95 to 99.5 percent purity. In addition to generating nitrogen from compressed air, Air Products' membranes are also used to dry air and natural gas, and to recover for reuse industrial process gases such as hydrogen. Air Products' PRISM membranes have a wide array of applications ranging from producing gases to inert fuel tanks aboard aircraft, to use in coal mine methane recovery operations in China, for use in enriching oxygen for passengers on the world's longest and highest highland railway -- the Qinghai-Tibet railway, and to produce nitrogen for blanketing chemical, methanol and liquefied gas shipments around the globe.

"The expansion of the St. Louis plant ensures we can maintain our leadership and meet increasing requirements for membrane separators from our customers," said Charles Page, business manager for Air Products' PRISM Membrane division. "The expansion will support the tremendous worldwide growth in demand that we have experienced over the last two years across most of our major market segments."

Air Products markets robust, reliable gas separation equipment that is field-proven in a wide variety of applications. It has been operating at the St. Louis facility since 1984 and currently employs over 80 people. The production expansion has the potential to increase workforce levels by 30 to 45 positions. "We have a skilled workforce at St. Louis and are pleased to be expanding at a site where we've been manufacturing for over 20 years," Page said. "There is a favorable climate for business fostered by the Economic Council of St. Louis County and Missouri Department of Economic Development."

"We're delighted Air Products chose St. Louis County for its expansion," said St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley. "This is a great example of economic incentives making the difference in the retention and expansion of good jobs for our workers and residents."

Air Products (NYSE:APD) serves customers in industrial, energy, technology and healthcare markets worldwide with a unique portfolio of atmospheric gases, process and specialty gases, performance materials, and equipment and services. Zásobník s kapacitou 11 m 3 zaistí prostredníctvom rúrkového rozvodu dodávku 70 tisíc litrov kyslíka ročne, čo tvorí asi 90 % z celkovej spotreby medicinálnych plynov v nemocnici.

„K tejto investícii a výmene dodávateľa nás v podstate prinútili prevádzkové dôvody a nutnosť preložiť odparovaciu stanicu na iné miesto v rámci areálu nemocnice,“ uvádza MUDr. Peter Kuka, riaditeľ nemocnice „Očakávame od nej zníženie nákladov na kyslík oproti predchádzajúcemu dodávateľovi a zvýšenie efektívnosti.“

Nemocnica Podunajské Biskupice lieči pacientov s pľúcnymi a kardiovaskulárnymi ochoreniami.

„Proces výberu a rozhodovania o investíciách v podmienkach finančného poddimenzovania v oblasti zdravotníctva je zvlášť namáhavý a citlivý,“ konštatuje ďalej riaditeľ. Kuka, „nakoľko musíme rozhodovať v obmedzenom priestore, musíme zohľadňovať nielen nákladovosť, ale aj vhodné finančné podmienky, čiže splácanie investície a podobne.“

„Slovenské zdravotníctvo je pre nás veľmi perspektívnym trhom, ktorému chceme pomôcť ponukou solídnych cien a kvalitných služieb,“ uvádza obchodný riaditeľ Air Products ČR a SR Martin Weiss.

„Rozšírila sa nám ponuka firiem. Tým sa nám naskytlo viacero možností výberu a možná regulácia cien v rámci trhového prostredia. Nakoľko je tok financií do nemocnice obmedzený, je nevyhnutné, aby každý zdravotnícky pracovník rozmýšľal ekonomicky, aby bola efektivita liečby najvyššia pri čo najnižších nákladoch“, doplňuje riaditeľ nemocnice.

„Naše produkty spĺňajú najvyššie kvalitatívne a bezpečnostné štandardy vyhovujúce legislatíve Európskej únie aj Spojených štátov,“ uzatvára obchodný riaditeľ Air Products ČR a SR Martin Weiss. Firma je zatiaľ jediným dodávateľom medicinálnych plynov, ktorý spĺňa podmienky novej slovenskej legislatívy vyžadujúcej povolenie Ministerstva zdravotníctva SR (podľa Zákona NR SR č. 140/1998 Z. z.).

Spoločnosť Air Products Česká a Slovenská republika je súčasťou medzinárodného koncernu Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., so sídlom v USA.

Preimplantační diagnostika dokonce umožňuje v programu asistované reprodukce geneticky vyšetřovat zárodky ještě před vložením do dělohy a vyřadit ty, jež jsou ohroženy genetickou vadou. Genetická prenatální vyšetření se provádějí většinou do 24. týdne těhotenství.

Jedním z předních soukromých pracovišť je Centrum lékařské genetiky a reprodukční medicíny Gennet, s. r. o., v Praze.

„Těhotenská genetika má významný společenský rozměr,“ podtrhuje vedoucí lékař a spolumajitel MUDr. David Stejskal důležitost podobných pracovišť. Genetika podporuje celosvětový trend plánovaného rodičovství. U rodičovských párů posiluje odpovědnost a umožňuje jim tuto odpovědnost realizovat.

Asi 16 % rodiček podstupuje odběr plodové vody a genetické vyšetření.

Bez nich by nebylo možno tuto lékařskou disciplínu vůbec provozovat.

„Atmosféra složená z čistého kyslíku s 5% obsahem CO2 slouží ke kultivaci buněk pro genetická vyšetření a zárodků v programu asistované reprodukce,“ uvádí MUDr. Stejskal.

Bez medicinálního oxidu uhličitého a medicinálního vzduchu by nebylo možné provádět kultivace tkání pro genetická vyšetření a zárodků v programu asistované reprodukce.

Air Products Announces Surcharge for U.S. Merchant Customers

Air Products (NYSE:APD) announced today that it is increasing nationwide surcharges on its liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen products starting June 1, 2006.
