Air Products Announces License Agreement for its Patented Hydrogen Fueling Protocol

Air Products (NYSE: APD), a leader in hydrogen fueling and infrastructure worldwide, today announced that it has signed an agreement to provide a technology license allowing Air Liquide Advanced Technologies U.S. LLC to practice the patented Air Products technology incorporated in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J2601 hydrogen fueling protocol. Air Products makes such hydrogen fueling technology licenses available for use around the world under fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms.

“We are very proud of our accomplishments in the hydrogen fueling and infrastructure marketplace and believe this license is recognition of our capabilities. We will accommodate additional licenses for our technology as the hydrogen fueling network in the United States and around the world continues to expand,” said Ed Kiczek, global business director – Hydrogen Energy Systems at Air Products. Consistent with its commitment to the SAE, Air Products will provide licenses to anyone seeking to use the patented technology as part of a fueling station project employing the J2601 protocol.

Air Products uses its patented hydrogen fueling technology in conjunction with the J2601 protocol at its own SmartFuel® stations, and also those built for other customers. SmartFuel stations worldwide provide hydrogen fueling at 700 bar (10,000 psi). Air Products has available several SmartFuel stations incorporating modular and expandable technology and a global patent portfolio, with additional patents pending, related to the advancements to be deployed under this protocol. Additionally, this novel patented supply system can cost-effectively be deployed anywhere in the U.S.to rapidly jump start new markets needing hydrogen fueling infrastructure.

Air Products Offers Free Webinar to Share Novel Ways Liquid Nitrogen Can Improve Food Processing Operations

Air Products to Introduce New Dew Point Monitoring System at POWDERMET2016

As part of this effort, the company will introduce its new continuous dew point monitoring system among its range of industrial gases, equipment, and technology solutions for powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing at POWDERMET2016 in Boston, Mass., from June 6-7.

Maintaining the appropriate atmosphere conditions in each furnace zone is critical to achieve consistent sintered product quality. The atmosphere dew point is an important parameter, however, continuous monitoring of the dew point in the hot zone can be challenging. Dew point readings can drift significantly, causing erroneous measurement and necessitating frequent cleaning, recalibration, and sensor replacement. With Air Products’ continuous dew point monitoring system, these issues can be significantly mitigated. Additionally, continuous dew point monitoring helps manufacturers comply with CQI-9 and NADCAP requirements, and enables operators to plan ahead for shutdowns and preventive maintenance of their furnaces.

Air Products introduceert temperatuur controlesysteem voor droge ingrediënten

Het controleren van de temperatuur van droge ingrediënten zoals bloem en andere poeders tijdens het pneumatisch transport kan voor veel voedingsproducenten een probleem vormen. Daarom heeft Air Products de Freshline® Inline-koeloplossing voor droge ingrediënten ontwikkeld. Deze technologie regelt de temperatuur door de injectie van stikstof.

"Een doeltreffende temperatuurregeling is een cruciaal element in het productieproces van sommige voedingsmiddelen en kan leiden tot een toename van de productkwaliteit en vermindering van afval," aldus Ann Callens, Segment Manager Food Industry. "Dit kan een belangrijke vooruitgang betekenen voor voedingsmiddelenfabrikanten in België en Nederland, waar droge voedingsingrediënten een essentieel onderdeel in de productieketen zijn.”

De Freshline® Inline-koeloplossing voor droge ingrediënten biedt gebruiksgemak en betrouwbaarheid. De koude stikstof wordt in de transportleiding geïnjecteerd, die de droge voedingsmiddelen pneumatisch in de fabriek vervoert. Voor een optimale bewaring en/of verdere verwerking koelt het op maat gemaakte en inerte systeem voor temperatuurregeling het product vervolgens via de luchtstroom af tot de benodigde temperatuur bereikt is.

Een bedrijfstak die met name zal profiteren van deze nieuwe technologie van Air Products is de bakkerij-industrie. Als gevolg van de warmte-energie die tijdens het mengproces vrijkomt, kan het deeg ongeveer 5 tot 8°C opwarmen. De gebruikelijke manier om de temperatuur op dat moment nog te beïnvloeden is door koud water toe te voegen, wat zeker zijn beperkingen heeft. Omdat bloem het belangrijkste ingrediënt van deeg is, kan een optimale temperatuurregeling van dit ingrediënt, voorafgaand aan het mengproces, een grote positieve impact hebben. De Freshline® Inline-koeloplossing biedt deze mogelijkheid.

Ook kan bloem, vooral tijdens de zomermaanden, hoge temperaturen bereiken als het buiten in grote silo’s wordt opgeslagen. Seizoensgebonden omstandigheden kunnen er dus toe leiden dat het deegrecept aangepast moet worden, wat niet ideaal is. Ook voor deze situatie biedt de Freshline® Inline-koeloplossing het antwoord. Ingrediënten kunnen met behulp van stikstof nauwkeurig gekoeld worden tot de optimale temperatuur bereikt is. Een bijkomend voordeel is dat stikstof droog is en dus geen vocht aan het product toevoegt. Ook zorgt stikstof voor een inerte atmosfeer waardoor stofexplosies (door bijvoorbeeld het ontvlambare stof van poeders) tijdens de pneumatische transportfase voorkomen worden.

Air Products introduit un nouveau système de contrôle de la température pour ingrédients secs

Contrôler la température des ingrédients secs, comme la farine, lors de leur transfert peut être problématique pour beaucoup de fabricants de produits alimentaires. Pour relever ce défi et créer une solution gagnante, les experts en agroalimentaire d'Air Products ont développé la solution de refroidissement d'ingrédients Freshline®.

« Surmonter un élément clé comme le contrôle de la température peut améliorer la qualité des produits et réduire le gaspillage. Il s'agit d'une avancée de taille pour les fabricants belges de produits alimentaires où les aliments secs constituent une part importante des activités de production alimentaire, qu'ils soient destinés au marché intérieur ou à l'exportation », a expliqué Ann Callens, Segment Manager Food Industry.

Simple et fiable, la solution de refroidissement d'ingrédients Freshline® pour lignes de production fonctionne par injection d'azote froid dans le conduit de transfert transportant les aliments secs vers l'usine de production. Ce système de contrôle de la température inerte sur mesure peut ensuite refroidir le produit et le débit d'air à la température voulue et assurer un processus de stockage ou de transformation optimal.

Carburos Metálicos apuesta por el sector enológico e inaugura su nueva máquina de hielo seco en la planta de Laguna de Duero

Carburos Metálicos, compañía líder en el sector de gases industriales y medicinales en España que pertenece al grupo Air Products, apuesta por el sector enológico de Castilla y León con la instalación de una nueva máquina de hielo seco inaugurada hoy en su planta de Laguna de Duero. De esta manera, la compañía está en disposición de ofrecer un servicio mejor y más cercano a sus clientes de la industria vitivinícola que demandan este producto para distintos procesos durante la vendimia y la producción de sus caldos.

Carburos Metálicos ha realizado una inversión en equipos en su planta de Laguna de Duero cercana a los 300.000 euros, aunque durante los últimos años, la inversión total en la mejora y adecuación de sus instalaciones, así como en la evolución de sus procesos e implantación del sistema de trazabilidad total de sus envases asciende a más de 1 millón de euros repartidos en distintos proyectos.

Apuesta por el sector enológico de Castilla y León
La compañía ha tenido históricamente presencia en el sector vitivinícola de la región, donde conviven hasta 12 denominaciones de origen y más de 650 bodegas, trabajando con varias de las más significativas. Aplicaciones del hielo seco en enología
El Dióxido de Carbono (CO2) en estado sólido, o hielo seco, que ahora se produce en la planta de Laguna de Duero tiene diversas aplicaciones en la enología. Las bodegas lo utilizan principalmente en la vendimia para la refrigeración de la uva durante su transporte a la bodega o durante los procesos de estrujado y prensado dónde sirve para evitar la oxidación y la fermentación prematura e incontrolada. El hielo seco también se utiliza para la inertización de los depósitos previa a la fermentación.

Die Kontrolle der Temperatur bei trockenen Zutaten wie Mehl auf der Transferlinie kann für viele Lebensmittelhersteller ein Problem darstellen. Lebensmittelexperten von Air Products haben sich dieser Herausforderung gestellt und eine erfolgreiche Lösung entwickelt: die Freshline® Inline-Lösung für die Kühlung von Zutaten. „Die Lösung einer Problematik wie die Temperaturkontrolle kann zu einer Steigerung der Produktqualität und zur Reduzierung von Ausschuss führen“, erklärt Ann Callens, Manager des Bereichs Lebensmittel und Getränke bei Air Products. „Dies sind wichtige Fortschritte für Lebensmittelhersteller in Deutschland. Die Freshline® Inline-Lösung für die Kühlung von Zutaten erfolgt mittels der Eindüsung von kaltem Stickstoff in das Transportrohr, das die trockenen Lebensmittel in die Produktionsanlage befördert. Das maßgeschneiderte inerte Temperaturkontrollsystem kühlt das Produkt und den Luftstrom auf die gewünschte Temperatur herunter und sorgt somit für eine optimale Verarbeitbarkeit oder Lagerung.

Eine Branche, die besonders von der Air Products-Technologie profitiert, ist die Backwarenindustrie. Während der Sommermonate besitzt Mehl aufgrund seiner Lagerung in Silos im Freien oft eine hohe Temperatur, was zu immer anderen Bedingungen im Produktionsprozess führt. Rezepte müssen daher möglicherweise entsprechend angepasst werden. Eine konstante Temperatur beugt dem vor und sorgt für die Beibehaltung einer gleichbleibend hohen Qualität. Mit der Freshline® Inline-Kühllösung können trockene Lebensmittel exakt auf bestimmte Temperatur herunter gekühlt werden und da hierbei trockener Stickstoff zum Einsatz kommt, wird dem Mehl keine zusätzliche Feuchtigkeit hinzugefügt. Der Einsatz dieses Gases und dieser Technologie schafft zudem eine inerte Atmosphäre und beugt während des Transports Staubexplosionen vor, z. B. von brennbarem Pulverstaub.

Air Products and NSPE Team Up to Commercialize Their First Hydrogen Fueling Station in Japan

Air Products (NYSE: APD) and NIPPON STEEL & SUMIKIN Pipeline & Engineering Co. Ltd. (NSPE) have successfully constructed and placed onstream their first retail hydrogen fueling station in Tokyo, Japan. JX Nippon Oil & Energy, one of Japan’s largest developers of hydrogen fueling stations, contracted with NSPE to supply the station. Air Products and NSPE signed an agreement in February 2014 to work together on Japan’s developing hydrogen fueling infrastructure market. Under this exclusive arrangement, the parties are currently constructing another station in Hokkaido, Japan, which will be onstream in September 2016.

“We were honored to work with NSPE and achieve success in constructing and delivering the station to meet the growing demand for fueling hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Japan. The station, completed on-schedule, passed all of its standard testing the first time through and is fueling vehicles regularly. We are pleased to continue collaborating with NSPE in the Japan market, where many more hydrogen fueling stations are already planned,” said Ed Kiczek, global business director – Hydrogen Energy Systems at Air Products.

Kiczek added that Air Products has operated in Japan since 1970, and works through its established wholly-owned subsidiary, Air Products Japan, on hydrogen fueling opportunities.

“The station is the first under the collaboration between NSPE and Air Products. In Japan, where the FCV commercial market was the first to be developed in the world, NSPE, as an engineering company delivering pipeline, LNG and other energy infrastructure, will continue to supply safe, reliable hydrogen for fueling together with Air Products,” said Hideki Imai, director of Plant Division at NSPE.

The Tokyo location is the first station in Air Products’ and NSPE’s collaborative effort. The Tokyo location uses Air Products’ SmartFuel® hydrogen fueling station technology and fueling protocol license. Air Products also provided infrastructure engineering and design, while NSPE provided engineering, construction, and adapted the technology for the Japanese market.

Air Products’ SmartFuel® hydrogen fueling stations provide hydrogen fueling at 70 Mpa (10,000 psi) according to JPEC (Japan Petroleum Energy Center) S0003, and is also SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) J2601 fueling protocol capable, using Air Products’ patented technology. Carburos Metálicos, compañía líder en el sector de gases industriales y medicinales en España y perteneciente al grupo Air Products, ha organizado la novena edición de su 'Semana de la Seguridad' desarrollando más de 220 actividades en torno a la seguridad en el hogar, el lugar de trabajo y también durante el tiempo de ocio, como los viajes o las vacaciones. Esta iniciativa, en la que han tenido la oportunidad de participar los 600 empleados en España, se engloba en el programa europeo que la compañía organiza cada año en los 17 países en los que está presente Air Products, el grupo matriz de Carburos Metálicos.

La campaña de este año ha girado en torno a una idea principal: ‘Seguridad en todas partes’. Con este lema, el objetivo ha sido destacar la importancia de la seguridad en todos los ámbitos cotidianos, respondiendo así a la máxima prioridad de Carburos Metálicos: reforzar la seguridad para reducir el riesgo de accidentes.

Un equipo especializado de Carburos Metálicos ha elaborado un programa de formación con actividades adecuadas a cada ámbito de actuación. Estas actividades se enmarcan en la prevención de riesgos y la respuesta en caso de accidente. Asimismo, se han incluido sesiones prácticas de ergonomía para el trabajo en oficina, para mejorar la salud postural de los empleados y prevenir así dolores y lesiones. Otra de las actividades ha consistido en impartir consejos básicos sobre dietética y nutrición, enfocado a conseguir que los empleados cuiden de su salud a través de una dieta sana y equilibrada, adecuada a sus gustos y nivel de actividad. Air Products Launches Hydrogen Services Business to Support Customer-owned Hydrogen Plants

In response to increasing customer demand, Air Products (NYSE:APD) has launched a Hydrogen Services Business as part of the company’s Customer Plant Support organization. The new Hydrogen Services Business formalizes something Air Products has been doing for decades—employing the company’s operational excellence to help customers improve the reliability and productivity of their own hydrogen plants.

“Air Products has been reactively providing service on customer-owned hydrogen plants for more than 30 years,” said Kevin Michaelis, vice president, Products and Technology–Industrial Gases, at Air Products. “We have seen such market pull that we are proactively packaging our technical knowledge and experience into an offering that can help customers run their hydrogen plants more effectively, as well as solve operational issues.”

The new Hydrogen Services Business is already helping customers with inquiries such as producing more or less hydrogen from steam methane reformers, planning SMR turnarounds, solving mechanical integrity issues, feedstock changes, pressure swing adsorber revamps, and improving energy efficiency.

“With our extensive operating experience, chances are very good that we have already seen and solved the issues that our customers are experiencing with their own hydrogen plants,” said Scott Siegmund, global manager, Customer Plant Support, at Air Products. “Whether our customers need know-how, elbow grease or both, engaging Air Products’ Hydrogen Services Business allows them to focus on their area of expertise while we focus on ours—operational excellence in hydrogen production.”

For example, a refiner in North America who was experiencing operating issues with its SMR looked to Air Products for help to increase throughput and improve energy efficiency. Following a detailed plant assessment, operational changes performed on-site, and a performance test, Air Products helped the customer increase hydrogen capacity by 20% and improve hydrogen plant efficiency by more than 10%.

In Southeast Asia, a chemicals customer turned to Air Products for help in producing an additional 50% of hydrogen. Since a new plant was not cost effective or feasible due to time constraints, Air Products developed an innovative plant expansion scheme that was cost effective with a shortened schedule. The existing hydrogen plant reforming capacity and final hydrogen product purification sections were creatively de-bottlenecked and integrated without requiring an extended revamp of the reformer furnace or pressure swing adsorption unit, enabling the plant to successfully achieve its expansion capacity ahead of schedule.

In Europe, Air Products exceeded a refiner’s expectations when they requested help to turndown hydrogen plant operation below the designed turndown rate due to market conditions. Air Products not only achieved the requested turndown operation of the hydrogen plant safely and reliably, but also converted the hydrogen plant feedstock from expensive butane to less costly natural gas. The feedstock conversion was simple and cost effective, requiring minimal retrofit equipment.

As announced yesterday in Wuhan at the 2016 China Chemical Industry and Chemical Park Forum, which over 750 industry government officials and leading companies attended to exchange ideas on the future of China’s chemical parks and chemical industry, Air Products is the only industrial gases provider among the 10 companies who won this award.

Air Products to Sell Performance Materials Division of its Materials Technologies Segment to Evonik for $3.8 Billion; Intends to Spin-Off the Electronic Materials Division of its Materials Technologies Segment to Shareholders as Versum Materials

Air Products (NYSE:APD), a world-leading industrial gases company, announced that it has signed a definitive agreement today to sell the Performance Materials Division (PMD) of its Materials Technologies segment to Evonik Industries AG (EVK.DE), a world leader in specialty chemicals and materials, for $3.8 billion in cash.

The sale of PMD is expected to close before the end of 2016, and is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Under the terms of the agreement, operational facilities, supplier contracts, labs, contracts, customers, and employees and certain legal entities associated with PMD would transfer to Evonik. Evonik intends to continue to run PMD from Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Air Products also intends to spin-off its Electronic Materials Division (EMD) to shareholders as a separate public company, called Versum Materials. Air Products is on track to separate EMD by the end of September 2016 and will continue to evaluate whether debt and equity market conditions are favorable for a tax-free spin-off.

Air Products has been consistently executing against its strategic, Five-Point Plan, which includes focusing on industrial gases and taking actions on non-core businesses. In September 2015, the Company announced plans to separate Materials Technologies, which includes PMD and EMD.

“The sale of PMD is consistent with the long-term strategy for Air Products that we announced in September 2014,” said Air Products’ Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Seifi Ghasemi. “I am very pleased that PMD has a great future ahead of it as a core business of a company which is even larger than Air Products.

“As for the balance of our Materials Technologies segment, I am also very excited about the future of EMD, which we currently intend to spin-off as a new, world-class public company named Versum Materials. Guillermo Novo will be the CEO of the new company, and I will be non-executive chairman of Versum Materials while maintaining my current roles at Air Products.

全球领先的工业气体公司空气产品公司 (Air Products，纽约证券交易所代码：APD)今天宣布其已与世界领先的特种化工和材料公司赢创工业集团签署了最终协议，将以38亿美元现金出售其材料技术板块下的功能材料业务。

功能材料业务的出售有望在2016年底前完成，具体时间将以监管部门批准和惯例下成交条件的达成为准。根据协议条款，功能材料业务下属的运营工厂、供应商合同、实验室、合同、客户、员工及相关的法人实体全部将转到赢创。而赢创打算继续在美国宾夕法尼亚州的阿伦敦运营该业务。

空气产品公司同时计划以名字为“Versum Materials”的独立上市公司的方式，向股东拆分其电子材料业务。该公司将继续评估债券和股票的市场条件是否对于免税分拆有利，按照目前的进度，拆分将于2016年9月底前完成。

Laut den Vertragsbestimmungen werden betriebliche Einrichtungen, Lieferantenverträge, Labors, Verträge, Kunden, Mitarbeiter sowie bestimmte mit PMD verbundene Rechtspersonen an Evonik übertragen. PMD soll jedoch weiterhin von Evonik in Allentown, Pennsylvania, betrieben werden.

Zudem plant Air Products auch die Ausgliederung seiner Electronic Materials Division (EMD) als eigenständige Aktiengesellschaft mit dem Namen Versum Materials an Aktionäre. Air Products plant die Ausgliederung von EMD bis Ende September 2016. Derzeit wird noch evaluiert, ob die Bedingungen des Fremd- und Eigenkapitalmarkts für eine steuerfreie Ausgliederung günstig sind.

Air Products führt damit kontinuierlich seinen strategischen Fünf-Punkte-Plan fort, der einen Schwerpunkt auf Industriegasen, aber auch Tätigkeiten hinsichtlich Nicht-Kerngeschäften beinhaltet. Schon im September 2015 kündigte das Unternehmen Pläne zur Ausgliederung von Materials Technologies an, wozu auch PMD und EMD gehören.

Air Products’ (NYSE:APD) Versum Materials™ will be highlighting its innovative InuMax Advanced Retinol Cosmetic Active during the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists’ (NYSCC) Suppliers Day event, May 10-11, in booth 311 at the New Jersey Convention Center, Edison, N.J.

The new InuMax Advanced Retinol Delivery System is based on newly developed InuMax technology, which is designed specifically to demonstrate excellent ingredient delivery and stability performance where higher-active loads are preferred.

Retinol is among the most well-known and well-studied cosmetic ingredients available to formulators that design anti-aging products. Brands are increasingly differentiating their products through retinol use-level claims, such as “contains x% retinol.” Formulating such systems can present unique challenges that many retinol solutions were not optimized to address. High retinol levels elevate the risk of skin irritation, can lead more readily to yellowing of a formulation, and can elevate consumer expectations of efficacy.

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today reported adjusted net income from continuing operations of $397 million, up 18 percent versus prior year, and adjusted earnings per share (EPS) from continuing operations of $1.82, up 17 percent versus prior year, for its fiscal second quarter ended March 31, 2016.

On a GAAP basis, net income from continuing operations was $380 million and EPS from continuing operations was $1.74 for the quarter.

Second quarter sales of $2,271 million decreased six percent from the prior year on unfavorable currency and lower energy pass-through of three percent each. Volumes were unchanged, as Industrial Gases – Asia growth continued while most other segment volumes were lower. Pricing overall was flat despite higher pricing in Industrial Gases – Americas and Industrial Gases – Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Adjusted operating income of $532 million increased 20 percent versus prior year, and record adjusted operating margin of 23.4 percent improved 500 basis points. Adjusted EBITDA of $797 million increased 12 percent over prior year, and record adjusted EBITDA margin of 35.1 percent improved 560 basis points. Adjusted ROCE increased 200 basis points to 13 percent. Restructuring and self-help measures drove this improvement.

Commenting on the results, Seifi Ghasemi, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, “With their sharp focus on executing our strategic Five-Point plan by controlling what they can control, the committed and motivated team at Air Products delivered excellent results again this quarter. In the face of challenging economic conditions and a weak manufacturing environment, Air Products again posted significant profit improvement, with EPS up 17 percent and record EBITDA margin of 35.1 percent, up 560 basis points. We have now delivered seven consecutive quarters of double-digit EPS growth.”

Second Quarter Results by Business Segment:

Industrial Gases – Americas sales of $798 million decreased 10 percent versus prior year, as lower energy pass-through reduced sales by six percent and unfavorable currency reduced sales by three percent. Volumes decreased two percent, primarily on lower demand in Latin America, as well as weakness in the oilfield services and North American steel markets. Pricing increased one percent. Operating income of $224 million increased 23 percent over prior year, and adjusted EBITDA of $341 million increased 14 percent, driven by the benefits from restructuring actions and lower maintenance costs. Record operating margin of 28.1 percent improved 770 basis points, and record adjusted EBITDA margin of 42.8 percent improved 910 basis points over prior year.
Industrial Gases – EMEA sales of $420 million declined six percent versus last year, with lower energy pass-through reducing sales by four percent and unfavorable currency reducing sales by three percent. Underlying sales were up one percent, as two percent higher pricing was partially offset by one percent lower volumes. Operating income of $89 million increased 26 percent from the prior year, and adjusted EBITDA of $145 million increased 14 percent versus prior year on the benefits from restructuring and pricing actions. Record operating margin of 21.3 percent increased 550 basis points, and record adjusted EBITDA margin of 34.5 percent increased 630 basis points over the prior year.
Industrial Gases – Asia sales of $406 million increased three percent versus prior year, as volume growth of 10 percent, driven by both strong underlying business and new plants, was partially offset by six percent unfavorable currency and one percent lower pricing. Operating income of $104 million increased 23 percent and adjusted EBITDA of $170 million increased 18 percent on the benefits from restructuring actions and higher volumes. Operating margin of 25.7 percent improved 410 basis points over prior year, and adjusted EBITDA margin of 41.9 percent increased 520 basis points. Profits declined sequentially, primarily on lower merchant volumes due to the Lunar New Year holiday.
Materials Technologies sales of $494 million decreased seven percent versus the prior year on six percent lower volumes. Operating income of $129 million was up four percent and adjusted EBITDA of $150 million was up one percent from prior year, with price and raw materials management, mix and restructuring actions driving the profit improvement. Record operating margin of 26.2 percent was up 290 basis points, and record adjusted EBITDA margin of 30.2 percent was up 240 basis points.
- Electronic Materials sales of $234 million declined 10 percent from the prior year due to lower delivery systems volumes. Operating margin of 30.1 percent was up 400 basis points and adjusted EBITDA margin of 35.5 percent increased 320 basis points, driven by favorable pricing and mix and the benefits of restructuring actions.
- Performance Materials sales of $261 million decreased five percent from the prior year on two percent lower volumes, driven by weaker additives and epoxies demand, and two percent lower pricing. Operating margin of 22.8 percent and adjusted EBITDA margin of 25.8 percent were both up 160 basis points, driven by lower raw material costs.

In the second fiscal quarter of 2016:

The EfW business segment has been accounted for as a discontinued operation. A loss on disposal of $946 million pre-tax ($847 million after-tax) was recorded, primarily to write down the assets to their estimated net realizable value.
Non-GAAP results for the Company exclude $8.6 million, or $0.03 per share, of expenses for cost reduction actions; $7.4 million, or $0.04 per share, in legal and advisory fees related to the intended separation of the Company’s Materials Technologies business; and $2.6 million, or $0.01 per share, for pension settlement costs.

Outlook

The capital expenditure forecast for fiscal year 2016 is approximately $1.2 billion.

Air Products expects fiscal 2016 third quarter adjusted EPS from continuing operations to be between $1.87 and $1.92 per share, up 13 to 16 percent versus prior year.

The Company is increasing its full-year fiscal 2016 adjusted EPS from continuing operations guidance to $7.40 to $7.55 earnings per share, up 12 to 14 percent from the prior year. The Company’s previous guidance was $7.25 to $7.50.

Air Products to Showcase High Performing Coupling Agents for Cleaning Formulations as Versum Materials™ at 2016 American Oil Chemists Society Annual Meeting

Air Products (NYSE:APD) will highlight its innovative coupling agents portfolio as Versum MaterialsTM, the new brand name for Air Products’ Materials Technologies business, during the American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS) Annual Meeting, booth 303, Salt Lake City, Utah, May 1-4.

Coupling agents can play an important role in cleaning formulations by facilitating the dissolution and dispersion of less soluble organic elements such as surfactants and salts, enabling systems to retain clarity, viscosity, and homogeneity. They can also help improve overall system stability and reduce the risk of phase separation. Despite providing a measure of “formulation insurance” to formulators, coupling agents are often misunderstood and misapplied.

The company’s solutions focus on enhancing formulators’ cleaning systems not only by acting as effective coupling agents but also by boosting overall cleaning performance. In addition to better cleaning, formulators can achieve a foam profile commensurate with the needs of their projects.

The coupling agents are based on etheramine chemistry spanning several Tomamine® Amphoteric products. Several of these products can provide added benefits such as high alkaline and temperature stability, enabling formulators to address unique and challenging cleaning needs.

Air Products Introduces Integra® Cylinder Range to China’s Welding Industry

With the implementation of “Made in China 2025” strategy by the Chinese government to upgrade the manufacturing sector, industry players are improving their core competitiveness and product quality, in which welding efficiency is a critical success factor. To answer the needs, world-leading industrial gases company Air Products introduced its innovative Integra® cylinder range in China at its welding customer seminar last week.

“We are happy to introduce the Integra cylinder range in China. As a new member of Air Products’ product portfolio for metal fabrication, the state-of-the-art cylinder brings multiple benefits for easier, safer and more economical welding applications over traditional cylinders,” said Jessica Bi, Asia Product Manager, Industrial Gases, Air Products, at the seminar taking place in Guangzhou.

The Integra cylinder range incorporates unique features including built-in regulator, Integra flow optimizer, protective valve guard and snap-on connection. With the built-in regulator, customers can save money and time on purchasing and calibrating an external regulator, and solve problems such as pressure hazard, gas contamination, or installation failures. Le 23 mars 2016, Fabrice Langlais- Northern Continent Supply Chain Manager Packaged Gases d’Air Products- témoignait lors d’une conférence organisée par l’AUTF à la SITL (Salon International du Transport et de la Logistique) sur la démarche mise en place par son Groupe, l’un des primo-signataires de la convention Fret 21 ratifiée le 20 mai 2015 à l’occasion du Climate Summit (Unesco Paris) en présence de Segolène Royal- Ministre de l’environnement-, des Présidents de l’ADEME et de l’AUTF et de 9 autres représentants d’entreprises d’envergure telles que Coca Cola, Carrefour…

Concerné depuis des années par le développement durable, il était en effet naturel qu’Air Products s’implique comme il l’a fait dès son ébauche dans ce programme d’engagement national visant à réduire les émissions de gaz à effet de serre grâce à un effort de rationalisation du transport des gros chargeurs. En développant des stratégies de transport multimodal (rail-route), en adoptant des camions plus légers et économiques et en optimisant ses livraisons de gaz conditionné comme de vrac, le Groupe souhaite donner l’exemple aux industriels de tous secteurs et démontrer qu’écologie peut rimer avec efficacité et économie.

Concrètement, Air Products a d’ores et déjà suivi 4 actions selon la méthodologie mise en place par l’ADEME.

Dans le cadre de sa logistique « gaz en citerne ». Air Products a entièrement revu les stratégies de création des tournées dans le but de réduire les distances entre les livraisons. Citons notamment l’augmentation de certains réservoirs jugés stratégiques ou celle de la plage de déclenchement des livraisons.

Trois autres initiatives se situent dans la distribution de « gaz en bouteille ». Tout d’abord, là aussi une révision de la stratégie des tournées, avec des zones de livraison redessinées et des fréquences adaptées. In fine, Air Products a réduit plus de 10% de sa flotte de distribution depuis 2014. Pour cette initiative, il a parfois impliqué ses clients, leur expliquant la finalité de l’action, et en grande majorité a été suivi. Le Groupe continue les discussions avec quelques clients dans l’objectif de les convaincre d’adhérer à cette action.

Par ailleurs, Air Products a mis en place depuis 2013 des liaisons rail-route entre ses différents sites pour le transport des gaz conditionnés. L’utilisation de ferroutage n’est pas nouvelle dans le cadre du transport de citernes ou de containers de gaz, mais est novateur dans l’optique de gaz en bouteilles multi produits. Le principal défi dans cette initiative a été l’aspect réglementaire du transport de matière dangereuse (RID, ADR).

Enfin, comme l’activité se fait en transport dédié, Air Products a adopté des camions plus légers avec un design innovant offrant une plus grande capacité de chargement. L’un de ces camions a été testé en 2013 durant 4 semaines et a permis de réaliser de 10 à 15% d’économies en carburant à charge constante. Finalement, Air Products a augmenté la capacité de chargement et supprimé environ 1 voyage toutes les 10 navettes. Ce camion pèse en effet, 2 tonnes de moins que le modèle standard ce qui permet de charger 2 tonnes de marchandises supplémentaires. Pour ce faire, il a même dû homologuer en France ces équipements autrichiens, avec l’aide de son prestataire, les transports Bert ; preuve s’il en est de l’importance d’un vrai partenariat avec les transporteurs.

Carburos Metálicos presenta la Criocámara de Cuerpo Entero en el Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell

Carburos Metálicos, que pertenece al grupo Air Products, ha presentado esta mañana la Criocámara de Cuerpo Entero, un innovador sistema de recuperación, que ya están utilizando algunos deportistas de élite y que utiliza nitrógeno líquido para enfriar el aire inferior a -120ºC. Este lanzamiento ha tenido lugar en el marco del Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell que se celebra en el Real Club Tenis Barcelona hasta el 24 de abril.

Diversos estudios científicos han demostrado que el tratamiento de crioterapia reduce el tiempo de recuperación, disminuye la inflamación de tejidos, músculos y articulaciones, mejora la circulación y cicatrización, y ralentiza el metabolismo celular. La Crioterapia de Cuerpo Entero se utiliza para tratar lesiones o cualquier sobrecarga y en la prevención de lesiones crónicas que se producen en los entrenamientos y preparaciones deportivas para distintas competiciones.

Carburos Metálicos, empresa gasista desde hace 119 años, comercializa las criocámaras fabricadas por las empresas tecnológicas CryoPod, para la producción de las cámaras de uso individual, y KrioSystem para las cámaras de grupo, con capacidad hasta 6 personas. El tratamiento de Crioterapia de Cuerpo Entero oscila entre uno y tres minutos aproximadamente. La exposición breve pero intensa a bajas temperaturas del cuerpo acelera la recuperación muscular tras un esfuerzo físico intenso, facilitando la asimilación de los diferentes beneficios terapéuticos.

Se trata de un tratamiento de crioterapia de cuerpo entero indirecto, en la que el nitrógeno no se inyecta en la cámara, sino que sólo enfría el aire de la misma, de esta forma se evitan posibles riesgos de asfixia por baja concentración de oxígeno y no hay riesgo de que el nitrógeno entre en contacto directo con el cuerpo evitando posibles quemaduras.

Desde el punto de vista de la sostenibilidad, el nitrógeno se consume durante las sesiones de crioterapia. Éste se gasifica en el intercambiador de calor y se conduce a la atmósfera, donde el nitrógeno ya representa el 79% del aire, no generando ningún residuo.

Diferentes clubs en el Reino Unido, Italia y Francia utilizan ya las criocámaras de Air Products en sus protocolos de entrenamiento. En los próximos meses también en España, Carburos Metálicos promocionará la Crioterapia de Cuerpo Entero para aplicarla a los principales clubes, federaciones y entidades deportivas que centran su actividad el ámbito del deporte profesional y de élite.

Carburos Metálicos, filial en España del grupo multinacional Air Products, acaba de lanzar su nueva edición de la guía de envasado en atmósfera protectora (EAP) para España, un documento de carácter técnico que, desde la primera edición, se ha convertido en un referente en el mercado de la alimentación. Desde 2007, Carburos Metálicos ha distribuido miles de ejemplares de la edición anterior de la guía en España.

Se trata de una guía en profundidad sobre las técnicas EAP, desarrollada por los especialistas de Carburos Metálicos y de todo el grupo Air Products, en colaboración con centros e institutos de investigación en el área de la alimentación a nivel mundial. Ofrece información sobre esta tecnología, cuya adopción se está acelerando debido a la globalización de la cadena de suministro y los cambios en los hábitos de consumo. De hecho, se estima que, debido a las ventajas que la técnica consigue en cuanto a posibilidades de distribución y calidad del producto final, el mercado mundial del Envasado de alimentos en Atmósfera Protectora alcanzará los 13,78 mil millones de dólares* en 2020.

Los productores de alimentos y minoristas están adoptando esta técnica por cuestiones de calidad, sostenibilidad y rentabilidad, ya que puede prolongar la vida útil de los alimentos de un 50 a un 500%, lo que permite reducir los residuos en la cadena de suministro y ofrece grandes oportunidades de exportación, ayudando a satisfacer las crecientes exigencias de los mercados emergentes. Guía única en el sector
Para las empresas alimentarias, la nueva edición de la guía es una herramienta de asesoramiento única en el sector. Esta edición está mejorada y ampliada. Recoge toda la información necesaria para poder envasar 14 categorías de alimentos: desde carnes hasta platos preparados, pasando por pescado y marisco, pasta fresca, panadería, lácteos, bebidas, frutas y verduras, entre otros. Se trata de 4 grupos alimentarios más que la versión anterior. Además, su contenido se ha actualizado y adaptado contemplando la normativa europea vigente y la legislación local más reciente así como las innovaciones del sector del envasado.

La guía explica qué es la técnica EAP, qué gases se utilizan y sus modos de suministro. También ofrece recomendaciones alimentarias y cuenta con un selector de gases de EAP mediante el cual el usuario puede encontrar la mejor solución de envasado para cada tipo de alimento. El selector incluye, además, consejos sobre los tiempos de conservación en EAP, temperaturas de conservación recomendadas, los principales microorganismos que causan deterioro en los alimentos y otros peligros que pueden producir intoxicaciones alimentarias. En el caso de la carne roja cruda, por ejemplo, los tiempos de conservación varían en función de si el producto se envasa en filetes o como carne picada (6-8 días), en piezas grandes (3-4 semanas) o en forma de embutido fresco (12-21 días).

Air Products Awarded Long-term Contract to Supply Leading Semiconductor Packaging and Test Services Company in South Korea

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced it has been awarded a long-term contract by JCET STATS ChipPAC Korea Ltd. (JSCK), a leading semiconductor packaging and test services provider, to supply tonnage quantities of nitrogen to its new production facility in Incheon, South Korea.

Air Products will build, own and operate a new on-site nitrogen plant—which is expected to come onstream in 2016—to produce gaseous nitrogen for JSCK’s new facility located in the Yeongjongdo development area of the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ). Air Products will start supplying JSCK with liquid nitrogen from another one of its facilities beginning the middle of this year.

Gasin Celebra 50 Anos de Sucesso em Portugal

Fabrica de Perafita abriu-se aos funcionários e familiares para visitas, experiências, demonstrações, festa com bolo de aniversário e outras surpresas

Gasin quer continuar fazer parte da recuperação económica portuguesa

A Gasin, empresa de referência no sector dos gases industriais e hospitalares em Portugal deu início, este fim de semana, às comemorações dos 50 anos de actividade no território que se vão prolongar ao longo de 2016 e envolver trabalhadores, clientes, stakeldores nacionais e as comunidades locais onde está inserida.

Raramente abertas ao exterior, as instalações da Gasin receberam este sábado mais de 150 funcionários e familiares para uma festa e um dia diferente. Ao longo da tarde, sobretudo os mais pequenos, conheceram as instalações, os produtos ali produzidos e o estado em que são produzidos, realizaram experiências e participaram numa festa que terminou com uma largada de balões com hélio e com bolo de aniversário.

Até final do ano estão programadas múltiplas iniciativas de comemoração, entre elas, um evento solidário que vai envolver de novo os funcionários e que no final terá como beneficiário a comunidade local.

Air Products Will Exit Energy-from-Waste Business

Air Products (NYSE: APD) has announced that the Company will exit its Energy-from-Waste (EfW) business. As a result, the EfW business segment will be accounted for as a discontinued operation effective in the Company’s second fiscal quarter. Also in the second quarter, Air Products expects to record a pre-tax charge in the range of $900 million to $1.0 billion in discontinued operations, primarily to write down assets associated with the EfW business to their realizable value.

In previous public comments, Air Products’ management has communicated the challenges with the Tees Valley, UK projects. Testing and analysis completed during the Company’s fiscal second quarter indicated that additional design and operational challenges would require significant time and cost to rectify. Consequently, the Board of Directors has decided that it is no longer in the best interest of the Company and its shareholders to continue the Tees Valley projects. Air Products will work to optimize the cash value of its investments. Exiting the EfW business will allow the Company to direct its resources to its core business of Industrial Gases.

The Board of Director’s decision to exit EfW is expected to have the following impacts on the Company’s financial reporting and metrics:

On a historical basis, the impact of moving the EfW segment to discontinued operations will increase EPS from continuing operations by about 3 to 4 cents for FY14 and FY15, as there was a small operating loss reported in the EfW segment.
The EfW asset write-down is expected to result in an increase in the Company’s Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) from continuing operations by approximately 80 basis points, driven by removing the asset value from the denominator in this calculation.
A modest future cash tax benefit is expected from the write-off.
Additional details on these financial impacts will be available with the Company’s fiscal Q2FY16 earnings announcement on April 28.

Air Products Increases Quarterly Dividend for 34th Consecutive Year

The Board of Directors of Air Products (NYSE:APD) today increased the quarterly dividend on the company’s common stock to 86 cents per share from 81 cents, representing a six percent increase.

The dividend is payable on May 9, 2016 to shareholders of record at the close of business on April 1, 2016. This marks the 34th consecutive year that Air Products has increased its dividend payment.

“As Air Products has continued to drive substantial improvements in profitability, our priorities for the use of the significant cash we generate have remained the same,” said Chairman, President and CEO Seifi Ghasemi. “Those priorities include maintaining our A credit rating, investing in organic growth and accretive acquisitions, continuing to increase the dividend, and finally, if there is excess cash available and the market conditions are right, returning it to shareholders in the form of share buybacks. Air Products’ Multi-million Pound Investment in New Industrial Gas Production Plant Near Manchester Achieves Significant Milestone

Air Products is reinforcing its position as one of the UK’s leading industrial gas suppliers by investing in a multi-million pound renovation of its production facility in Carrington, Manchester. The arrival and installation of major elements, including a new coldbox for the new plant during March, marks a significant milestone in the project.

Air Products has been based at Carrington since the 1960s and while the original plant is still performing well, the company took the strategic decision to upgrade the technology so that it can provide the product quality and reliability that the region’s industry will depend on in the future. The upgrade will also improve environmental performance and enable increased production levels, allowing the company to support the growth of its customers across the North and Midlands.

A cleverly designed engineering solution was required to ensure there wasn’t any unplanned disruption to production at the site throughout the renovation process. As space was not available to build it alongside the existing facility, Air Products’ engineers have effectively built the new plant on top of the existing ageing process. Within the programme of work, separate processes are being replaced in-situ with the plant still operational.

“The skill and expertise demonstrated by our Air Products engineers is incredible. It’s a fantastic achievement to create a new, more efficient industrial gas production plant on the same site as the process we are replacing, while its still operating,” said Leyland Harrison, Senior Principle Project Engineer for Air Products. “It’s a bit like doing open heart surgery, but making sure we have the new heart working perfectly before we take the old one out.”

There have been no unplanned interruptions during the entire 18 month upgrading process, demonstrating the team’s expertise in delivering a complex, large-scale refurbishment project in coordination with normal operations, and with no incremental increase in project costs.

Central to the plant improvements is the installation of a new, super-efficient cold box to manufacture liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon from fresh air. The 55 metre structure contains a highly engineered distillation process that operates at around -186 degrees centigrade. The new facility has been designed in the UK and and manufactured by Air Products’ own engineers.

“This is an exciting chapter in Carrington’s development, as we prepare for future growth by making a significant investment in the site and our technology. We’re committed to the region and our fantastic team that serve our customers from the site, while striving to ensure that we meet the highest safety and environmental standards. Their efforts have already been rewarded as Carrington has several European safety awards in recognition of its excellent performance,” added Tim Hulbert, Vice President of Air Products’ industrial gases business in the UK and Ireland. “Our continued commitment to the North West means that our customers who depend on our industrial gases (including hospitals, food producers, speciality chemical manufacturers, pharmaceutical, steel mills and advanced metals processors) can continue to rely on us as we grow our capacity to meet their needs.”

Air Products employs more than 50 specialists at the Carrington site, the majority of which are highly trained drivers, who deliver Air Products’ liquid industrial gas products across the country. The site is also the base for plant managers, logistics specialists, engineers and operations staff who ensure that the plant is a highly reliable component of the company’s wider network that serves the UK and Ireland.

Air Products Fills 100th Helium ISO Container at Doe Canyon

Air Products (NYSE: APD), a global leader in helium production, recently reached a milestone at its newest helium production facility in Colorado by filling its 100th helium ISO container. Air Products’ Doe Canyon plant is the only one in the world extracting helium from a gas stream composed primarily of carbon dioxide (CO2). The helium from this facility strengthens and diversifies Air Products’ helium supply chain to further enable the reliable delivery of product for its customers around the world.

“We are very pleased with the operational performance of our Doe Canyon helium plant, which is one-of-a-kind and sets a new standard by producing helium from a naturally occurring carbon dioxide stream. We will continue to make the investments necessary to maintain the leading market position in this industry that we have established and enhanced over many decades,” said Walter Nelson, vice president and general manager – Global Helium at Air Products. “This facility could not have been achieved without the cooperation of our site host. They allowed us to move forward with this outside-the-box thinking to helium production.” The site host is Kinder Morgan CO2 Company, acting for and on behalf of the Doe Canyon Deep Unit, in its capacity as Unit Operator.

Much of the helium produced in the United States today comes from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) system. The BLM system is in decline, however, and eventually that storage supply will be depleted. At the same time, the world’s demand for helium is likely to continue to grow, requiring additional new sources of helium.

“This is not just another liquid helium plant. By using cutting-edge technology, combined with world class operations, we’re able to recover helium from CO2. It is one more step, in a series of steps, Air Products has taken to be the most reliable helium supplier in the world,” said Corning Painter, Air Products’ executive vice president - Industrial Gases.

Most of the helium produced today is a by-product of natural gas (methane) processing. However, not all natural gas fields contain helium and, in fact, very few gas fields have high enough helium concentrations to make it economical for extraction. In this case, the naturally-occurring gas is composed primarily of carbon dioxide, and it contains high enough concentrations of helium to make extraction economical. The Doe Canyon plant is expected to produce up to 230 million cubic feet of helium per year, which can replace more than 15 percent of the current BLM reserve helium supply as that system declines.

Air Products’ Colorado facility uses a new technology process to produce pure helium from the carbon dioxide stream. Air Products extracts the helium from the gas stream and returns the carbon dioxide to Kinder Morgan CO2 for its intended enhanced oil recovery (EOR) use. Kinder Morgan CO2, supplies this carbon dioxide to the Permian Basin in West Texas, where it is used for EOR.

Helium is used in many unique and valued applications including: magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); lifting for high altitude scientific research balloons, blimps and party balloons; fiber optics and semiconductor manufacturing; metallurgy; breathing atmospheres for deep diving or unique blood gas medical mixtures; analytical chemistry; pressurizing and purging pipes, vessels, and other critical equipment; leak detection; and other advanced applications.

Air Products to Provide PRISM® Membrane Separators for Shenhua Ningxia Coal-to-Liquids Project

Air Products (NYSE:APD) PRISM Membranes division in Saint Louis, Missouri, has received a significant order to provide a large quantity of membrane separators to the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base in Ningxia, China, for use as part of the Shenhua Ningxia Coal-to-Liquids Project. The membranes will be part of a hydrogen purification and recycling operation that is expected to start-up later this year.

“This coal-to-liquids project demonstrates China’s advanced capabilities in the energy industry, and we are very proud to be part of it,” said Peter Fung, business manager of Permea China Limited, a division of Air Products PRISM Membranes. “The membrane system is designed to process up to 280,000 standard cubic meters per hour of gas flow, which is an important factor in the efficiency of the overall project.”

Impure hydrogen that is produced by processing the coal passes through the membrane system, which removes contaminants and purifies the valuable hydrogen gas for reuse. The PRISM^®Membrane Separators contain polymeric hollow fibers that use selective permeation under differential pressure to separate hydrogen from methane, carbon monoxide, and other hydrocarbons.

China’s largest PRISM membrane system was installed in 2007 and started up in 2008 for a coal liquefaction project in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. PRISM Membrane Separators have also been used to produce oxygen enriched breathing air for passengers on China's high altitude Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

Air Products Holds Groundbreaking for World-Class SMR at Covestro in Texas

Air Products (NYSE: APD), the leading global hydrogen provider, today held a groundbreaking ceremony at Covestro’s Baytown, Texas facility where Air Products will invest $350-$400 million to build, own and operate a world-scale steam methane reformer (SMR). The SMR will produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide (CO) to be supplied to Covestro and other customers linked to Air Products’ Gulf Coast Hydrogen and CO Pipeline Networks. The plant, which will start-up in 2018, is already completely sold out.

“We have worked with Covestro (formerly Bayer MaterialScience) for decades and look forward to being an important industrial gas supplier to them in Baytown for many more years to come. The new SMR strengthens Air Products’ position in the Texas carbon monoxide (CO) market and enhances our well established hydrogen supply network,” said Corning Painter, executive vice president, Industrial Gases at Air Products.

The SMR and cold box will be located on land leased from Covestro, a world-leading manufacturer of high-tech polymer materials for key industries, headquartered in Leverkusen, Germany. The SMR will produce approximately 125 million standard cubic feet per day of hydrogen and a world-scale supply of carbon monoxide. Covestro products and application solutions are nearly everywhere in modern life. With its innovative strength, Covestro is constantly coming up with new developments that benefit society and the environment.

Covestro’s Baytown facility, its largest plant in North and Central America, was established in 1971 and employs a workforce of 1,100 with an additional 750 contractors. The plant configuration and deployed technologies support Air Products’ overall sustainability goals of reducing energy consumption and emissions.

For over 20 years the Air Products and Technip global alliance has provided the worldwide refining industry with competitive technology and world-class safety. The alliance is responsible for over 35 hydrogen production plants located in 11 countries around the world and produces well over two billion standard cubic feet of hydrogen per day for clean fuels production. Technip provides the design and construction expertise for steam reformers while Air Products provides the gas separation technology. Air Products, through its extensive operating network, and Technip, from its large reference base, also bring effective operational and engineering knowledge to “design-in” high reliability and efficiency. Painter also added that the ability for the new plant to connect to Air Products’ existing Gulf Coast Pipeline (GCP), the world’s largest hydrogen plant and pipeline network system, remains a value-added plus for hydrogen customers in terms of ensuring product reliability. Air Products officially dedicated its GCP in 2012. The 600-mile pipeline span stretches from the Houston Ship Channel in Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana, and supplies customers with over 1.4 billion feet of hydrogen per day from over 22 hydrogen production facilities.

Pipelines offer a safe, robust and reliable supply of hydrogen to the refinery and petrochemical industries around the world. Globally, Air Products’ pipeline operational expertise is evidenced by its network of systems.
